MP Peter Goldring Announces Funding for Kaleido Family Arts Festival
EDMONTON, Alberta, –On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Peter Goldring, Member of Parliament (Edmonton East), today announced funding for the Kaleido Family Arts Festival celebrating the local arts and culture of Edmonton.
“Our Government is proud to support the Arts on the Ave Society,” said Minister Moore. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”
“The Kaleido Family Arts Festival is a key outlet for local performers to display the artistic talents the Edmonton community holds,” said Mr. Goldring. “The Arts on the Ave Society has been promoting pride for Alberta Avenue through Art bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together to contribute to building a strong community."
The Arts on the Ave Society has received funding of $29,100.00 to help present its Kaleido Family Arts Festival, which will take place from September 10th to 12th 2010. The festival will be held on a five block strip of Alberta Avenue and will feature local performers of music singing, dancing, story-telling, theatrical and aboriginal dance.
This funding has been provided by the Government of Canada’s Department of Canadian Heritage program Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage created in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
